The perfect way to end Spring Break was to go to the beach. It was beautiful! Beautiful Sunny day with a show of dolphins swimming by.

A little Beach Volleyball

It was the weirdest thing. We noticed while at the beach that we all had tar stuck to our feet and legs. It must have washed up onto the beach because it was everywhere. So when we got home we all put our feet in the tub for a group bubble bath.

This is why you shouldn't mix slushies with bubble bathes.

All in all it was a perfect day even with a little bit of messy tar.

Life with Max

Max is constantly making and creating all day every day. In the top two pictures you see his miniture golf game he put together. I have no idea where he gets these ideas. But atleast once a day he is grabbing paper scissors tape or whatever and working hard. This was a design he came up with all by himself. He laid paper out and of course cut a hole out of the top one. Then he grabbed a pencil to use as the club and an egg from Pipers play kitchen to use as the ball. It was quite challenging. And yes, we all tried it out.
A couple of days ago he decided we needed some scare crows in our backyard to scare away all the birds. So here are his colorful scarecrows.

Right now he is making robots. I'll let you know how it goes.......

Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas!
Christmas morning was great to all be together opening presents. What did we get? Well four of us got the flu! (Grace, Piper, Max and Me) - Max was the real lucky one as he had the flu and Strep Throat! The poor guy! But that didn't stop him from trying out his new four wheeler!

Piper just wasn't sure about her new jeep....But one circle around and she was in pure heaven and didn't want to get out.

So Grace was sick on Christmas as well. She came down for presents but then pretty much slept the rest of the day. Finally, on Saturday afternoon the kids felt up to taking their new treasures out for a spin out front. Max was in a dead sleep on the couch but somehow heard the girls were going out front and jumped right up and said

"I'm going too, where are my boots." So funny, nothing can keep that boy down.

Of course Evan couldn't just stand there, so he grabbed Ellie's new bike and took it for a spin.
Here is Max, totally sick and yet having pure joy just riding around and around. So then I realized Claire wasn't out with us, so I ran inside to tell her to come out and play only to find that she had received the gift of the flu as well. So sad!

Saturday night we got to play with some of the fun games the kids got. Here is Piper playing the drums to Beetles rock band.

Here is Ellie on guitar.I have to admit, it wasn't the perfect Christmas I had planned but even with all the ickiness it was still fun. We have a lot to be grateful for! I am just so happy we were able to be gathered as a family together, even if half of us were deliriously sick. It is always wonderful to be together.

This is our Elf. He comes to us every Christmas time. Everyday he is in a new spot and the kids have to find him. He use to be called Scooty but this year Parker renamed him Dwight. So now the kids run around saying we have to find Dwight.

I know, I know I have been slacking on this blog. I have been busy busy busy editing editing and editing. I am having so much fun doing everyone's photoshoots and Christmas Cards but yes, the family blog has been neglected. It's been a big Summer for Claire. It started out with her getting her ears pierced. Then she got layers. (Haircut). that's a big deal if you didn't know. Yesterday we went to the beach. We met up with my family for a big Family Night at the Beach. The tricky part was Evan and Max had to go to soccer practice first. So while we were getting ready for the beach Max was getting ready for soccer. After seeing Max wearing shin guards Piper decided she too must have some. So she put some on and insisted wearing them to the beach. She wore them for the first hour at the beach until she finally wanted to get in the water.
Here is the look when I asked if she wanted to take the shin guards off.

Here is the line up on the division for the 8yr olds and higher. Surprisingly enough the 6 foot 7inches tall guy won. We are so proud of you JD. But what JD didn't know at the time was that you really didn't want to touch that fabric hanging from the back end of that calf.

And Finally, I am going to finish posting on our Washington trip with some photos from the fourth of July. The day was filled with the Forks Parade, going to the Demolition Derby, boating on Cousin Jimmy's Lake and finishing with fireworks that went on at the beach into the wee hours of the morning. (Thankfully we were able to sleep through most of them).
The demolition derby where cars crash into each other until there is just one car still going. While watching, Max turned to me and said, "That is not very smart!"

La Push

And here are pictures from La Push. This is where we stayed. Yes it is the First beach, Jacob Black's Beach. It is beautiful. We had fun on the 3rd setting out own fireworks. Here are lots of pics. The beach skies over the beach were filled with fireworks on the 4th. I have never seen anything like it. It was a fun place to spend the fourth of July. We didn't see Jacob but we did buy some fireworks from his Grandpa, or at least that's what he said.

Twilight Central

Just to clarify, we did not go to Forks, Washington because we are Twilighters. We went there for a family reunion. This is where Evan was born, baptized and lived until he was ten. that being said, we had to go to the store, Twilight Central. This is Evan's Aunt Edna's shop. It use to be the town Florist but after Twilight was created she was smart enough to switch it to Twilight Central. It is filled with Twilight sweatshirts, t-shirt, pajamas, popcorn, stationary. More then you can even imagine she sells it. The store is always filled, mostly with Mom's coming to town with their teenage daughters. While there they get the full tour. The best is Aunt Edna is now known as Bella's Grandma. So for the fourth of July she had a go-cart all dolled up for the parade. Here is a picture of my kids getting a sneak peak and ride on the cart.

I know, I know. I have been very neglectful about posting on the family blog! I am attempting to catch up. I have an insane amount of pictures to sort through., so sorry if they are not in order. But, here are some photos from our fun Othello/Forks, Washington trip. I will start with Othello first. What did we do in Othello? Well, we hung out with cousins, chased their duck named Quakers. We rode Uncle Dale's horses. Parker even got to drive his truck! We ran around the orchard; Had a photoshoot there too. We played in the Irrigation Ditch. It is the best place to race popsicle sticks! And well, that along with going out in Grandpa's boat kept us very busy!

Girls Camp 09 - Lake Isabella and The Kern River meet the LR2 young Women!

We just got back from Girls Camp. Let me tell you, we had some fun! 25 wonderful Young Women. We camped at Lake Isabella. Yes, we really camped in tents! We rafted down the Kern River and also went on an ever so challenging High Ropes course. It was a blast for all! Below is a picture of Evan (AKA the Bishop). The first pic shows how high this was. This one is called the "Leap of Faith." First you have to climb up this pole. Then get yourself on the platform. Then leap off and grab the trapeze. Mind you, the jumper is tethered to someone on the ground who is spotting you. Notice in this pic that Evan is tethered to the guy holding the rope. Notice Ridgely Brown holding onto the guy just so he doesn't go flying up if Evan comes flying down. (Evan was alittle bigger then the guy). And here he goes, he jumps and it's all fun!

This is me. The object here is to climb up the pole, and glide along the wire grabbing each rope until you make it across.
Here is Claire, this one is the toughest. She has to walk along two ropes while hanging onto one and make it across. Toughest, because it is the highest and the ropes were the most wobbliest. But she did it!

That is right. Parker is graduating from Middle School. To celebrate all of the 8th graders from our ward and the ward next to us went to the school dance. We all met up for some pictures at Town Square and then off to the dance. To finish off the night we had them over to our house for some food and games. It was a fun night. Aren't these Young Men and Young Women GORGEOUS?!?!?!

More fun on the Big Island

Sunday was a great day. We started off by crowding around Evan's lap top and watched Conference. It was a fabulous morning. Then Evan had the idea that we should all venture out for a drive to see a volcano. It was a long drive but we had fun along the journey.

What did we find along the way? A black sand beach! We had to stop to check it out.

We made it! Here is the cool Volcano.

We also walked through a Lava Tube!At the end of the tube was a beautiful rainforest.

Monday was a very fun day! So exciting, wanna know why? We went...

Swimming with the Dolphins!

This may have been the coolest thing ever! Me, Parker, Claire, Ellie, Gracie and Max all got to swim and play with some very cool dolphins at the Hilton. Evan and Piper cheered from the side and took pictures. It was a very fun experience! Ellie says" it was Awesome!" Grace says "it was the coolest thing of the whole trip. " Max loved feeding the dolphins their fish.

Today we went on a Submarine ride to see the fish under water. It was awesome. Here we are waiting for our time to board the boat that takes us to the submarine. Sorry no pics of the submarine, my arms were to full with children to carry a camera.

Grace and her broken wrist!

Grace has joined the team of cast wearing kids. That's right, another broken wrist for the Gentry family. Parker got his cast off and Grace got hers on. How did she do it? While playing soccer at school someone kicked her wrist. Ouch! Hopefully this will be our last cast for awhile! We can hope anyway!

Who knew a bunny is such a great pet. You just hold it and cuddle with it. When you are done you put it back in it's cage. We love our sweet new bunny. Now for the name. Leave a comment if you have a suggestion. Here are some names my kids have come up with: Snowflake, Angel, Sugar, Foo Foo, Evis, or Hop Hop. However, it seems that Piper may have named it herself as she calls it "Bun." I think it is sticking. Last night Parker was holding the bunny and Piper didn't know it. She went in the other room to check on the bunny in it's cage and when she discovered it was gone she came back exclaiming, "Bun gone! Oh no! Bun gone!"

We had an awesome trip to Sundance, Utah. It was our first Family Ski trip and it was a great one. Parker snow boarded while Evan, Claire, Ellie, Grace and Max all skied. They all picked it up fast and loved it. Here is a picture of Claire in her ski attire waiting in line.

  Everytime Max came down the mountain he insisted that he was going straight back up to the top of the mountain to ski back down again....and again ... and again!

Oh, did we mention Parker broke his wrist? Yes, on Saturday afternoon while snow boarding he took a fall. He wins the tough guy award because he convinced us he was fine. Mom insisted on getting an x-ray and what do you know, it was broken in two spots. He will have to take a break from his volleyball team for a month or so. But when asked if it was worth it he would have to say" totally", he loved snow boarding!

Evan Parker Gentry is officially taller than me. Measuring in at 5 feet 8 and 3/4 inches, Parker officially passes me up. And for the record his feet are already bigger than Evan's. Umm, how did this happen so fast?

While taking pictures of the Mullen boys, Piper wanted to prove she was her Mom's Top Model so she grabbed Kurt's hat and started posing until I took some shots. Here's what I got. Don't worry Piper, You are my Top Model!

Wahoo, Grace is now in Senior Primary in the CTR 8 Class. That's Big time and she is so excited about it!

2008 was a wonderful year for the Gentry Family! We had so much fun being together. Since we started off Blogging late into the year, I thought I would post some of the highlights that happened before the blogging days. It is amazing to me to look back at photos taken less then a year ago and see how much our children have grown. Reflecting back on the year we realize how much we have to be grateful for! We wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

A Year in Review continued....Idaho

In August we traveled to Idaho to check out Doug and Jayme's new place. It is wonderful. We had such a great time. The kids got to experience Sea-Doo's, Motorcycles and Yellowstone National Park. Thank you Doug and Jayme for being such gracious hosts!

In the beginning of August we were lucky enough to go to Hawaii. It has been a long time tradition for my Parents to gather everyone together and take the whole family on a trip to Hawaii. We had a fabulous time. Thank you Mom and Dad!

On Mother's Day 2008 Evan and Sandi got called in to meet with our Stake President, President Zundel. (Happy Mother's Day Sandi!) Evan was called to be Bishop. Our Ward was being split and a new Ward, Ladera Ranch 2nd would be created. It has become a wonderful Ward filled with many talented and kind people. We often say how blessed we feel to live where we live and be surrounded by such wonderful friends.

On May 11th Max turned four. He had an awesome Pirate Treasure Hunt Party. Everyone had a blast. Look closely at the Scary Pirate that showed up to take them on a treasure Hunt. Oh what fun!

Our baby is growing up! Piper turned one on April 9th. Of course we had a joint Birthday party with fav cousin Naomi who was born just one day later.

For Spring break we took the family to Sundance, Utah. Believe it or not we were surrounded by snow! The kids loved it!

Easter was fun for all! This was our first Easter in our house with us all together. (Last year, Mom was in the hospital on bed rest waiting for Piper to be born.) Also, we had finished our landscaping. The Easter Bunny enjoyed hiding the eggs in the backyard for the kids to find.

Claire competes her first Solo Dance- A Gentry Year in Review

Claire has competed in many dance competitions with her Dance Teams but this year she tried something new. She performed a Solo Lyrical Dance number to "Ordinary Miracle," and scored a "High Gold" Award. (That's really good!) She also performed in the school talent show and the Dance Academy's Summer Recital. All who saw it commented how beautiful it was. She is a gifted dancer. This is a picture of her stretching out before the Dance Competition.

March 2008 Parker's AYSO Soccer team won first place in the Area and Regionals and went on to take 2nd place in Sectionals. (There are only 13 sections in the U.S.) Take a good look at Parker in this picture. He doesn't look like that anymore! It was so much fun going to all of Parker's Soccer games. The team had so many talented players but they were also lead by a great Coach. It was a great team to be a part of.
